So much to do, so little time...

So much to do, so little time... So often I feel pulled in a million different directions. My job is surrounded by deadlines and stress. My husband needs the house to be clean and orderly - to the extreme. My daughter needs me to wash her favorite pink shirt. Even the dog needs to be taken out on walks and fed on time. The world doesn't ever stop for me. There is a constant pressure to win the "Woman of the Year Award". Does anyone else feel you just don't measure up to anyone's expectations?

I may not be a mother, wife or grown-up but I totally understand what you mean. Don't worry, just keep your feet on the ground and maybe things will start looking up and getting easier.

I am a mother, wife, and grown-up and if I could actually find my feet amongst all the to-do's spinning around me like my own personal funnel cloud, then maybe, just maybe, I could keep them securely planted on the ground. For now, I'm buying suction shoes. If they haven't been invented yet, I certainly don't have the time to create the prototype. Have at it. And then send me a pair!

mia, suction shoes sound like a wonderful product to keep myself grounded. Anything to help relieve the pressure would be heavenly. That sounds like a fun idea for my daughter, Judy, to invent :)

Jenvive, you are not alone. We all share these similar feelings as yourself. I would say the only expectations one should live up to is their own.

I want to agree with you Andrew, but I feel with so many eyes on me that I just have to keep up. Maybe it is that I should only worry about myself, but even in my eyes it is important for me to be a good mother and a good wife and I feel that the only way to really do that is by focusing on other people's estimations of me. It is hard to balance this with my own goals and aspirations.

I know exactly how you feel. I honestly feel that everyone from time to time feels that overwhelmed feeling in the pit of their stomach. My suggestion is find that one thing that takes you away from the stress, whether it be religion, yoga, or even just simple walks outside. If you find that one thing that you know you can go do and get away from it all then you can make it through whatever stresses life throws at us every day.
